Club projects
Real change does not happen in isolation. It happens when those who serve at the community level come together, share their knowledge, and turn shared priorities into action
Rotary Club of Batticaloa Heritage President Rtn

On 24 August 2026, Rotary District 3220, led by District Governor Rtn. Kumar Sundararaj, together with Rotary Club of Batticaloa Heritage President Rtn. S. Hariprasath, Rotart District officials, and members of the Rotary Club of Batticaloa Heritage, met with Batticaloa Municipal Council Mayor Mr. Sivam Packiyanathan to strengthen collaboration for a healthier, safer, and more empowered Batticaloa.
At the heart of the discussion was Rotary’s flagship initiative, “Sharp Eyes – Learn Better”, a project dedicated to providing prescription spectacles to schoolchildren in need. Because when a child can see clearly, they can learn confidently, participate fully, and dream without limits.
The dialogue also advanced Rotary’s commitment to road safety, and exploring meaningful partnerships and community-based initiatives that can create greater awareness and help protect lives on our roads. Importantly, the discussion also addressed steps towards preparedness and community resilience in response to El Niño-related needs, reinforcing the importance of proactive planning and coordinated action to support communities facing climate-related challenges.
The support, guidance, experience, and local insight of leaders such as the Mayor and municipal authorities are invaluable in ensuring that Rotary initiatives are relevant, practical, well-coordinated, and truly reach the people who need them most. A latest copy of the Governor's Monthly Letter - August Edition was also presented to the Mayor.
This is Rotary at its best: bringing together leaders, communities, and partners to identify real needs and deliver real solutions. We acknowledge President Hariprasath and the Club Public Image Chair Rtn. Christian of RC Batticaloa Heritage for the coordination and support.
Together, we are not only serving communities. We are shaping a better future for generations to come.
