From Livelihoods to Lasting Impact
Rotary Club of Trincomalee

On 23 August 2026, the Rotary Trincomalee of Rotary District 3220 marked a significant milestone by handing over three Community Cattle Farms in Maavadichchenai, Poonagar East and Poonagar West.
Together, these farms will benefit 135 families, creating sustainable livelihoods while supporting better nutrition and educational opportunities for children.
This initiative is part of Rotary International Global Grant Project GG 2579941, “Upliftment of Lifestyle for Affected People in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka”, supported by The Rotary Foundation and Rotary International Districts 1440, 1450, 1461, 1470, 1480 & 3220.
Training in cattle and poultry management, feed management and productivity ensures that knowledge grows alongside assets, with financial management training to follow. The three farm societies will evolve into cooperatives, strengthening community ownership and long-term sustainability. This is more than a livelihood project, jt is an investment in families, children and resilient communities.
We acknowledge the commitment of the Rotary Club of Trincomalee members and the President Rtn Arulvaratharajaah Kanapathimuthu and the support of Past District Governor Helge Anderson and all the International partners.
135 families. 3 communities. Together we #CreateLastingImpact
