Club projects
Today, two Rotary Districts came together with one shared purpose, empowering the next generation through education
Rotary Club of Mamallapuram
At Nuwara Eliya Court Lodge Tamil Vidyalayam, Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya, the School Craft Project Phase II has taken another significant step forward. With nearly 300 students from Junior School through O/Ls, the school is being transformed into a more modern, inclusive and child-friendly learning environment.
Led by the Rotary Club of Mamallapuram, RID 3231, Phase II is renovating five classrooms and establishing the Lakshmi Smart Classroom, with an investment of approximately USD 30,000. This builds upon their previous contribution of approximately USD 25,000 towards the renovation of the school hall, a remarkable continuing commitment to the school and its children.
The partnership continues through the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid-City of Rotary District 3220. On 12 September 2026, the collaboration will also see the handing over of school band equipment valued at approximately LKR 500,000, while an RO water purification plant will also be handed over to the school, further strengthening the facilities available to its students.
Most importantly, this is more than infrastructure. It is about creating spaces where children can learn with dignity, teachers can teach with greater capacity, and young minds can dream bigger.
Nearly 100 Rotarians, including Past District Governors, District officials, Presidents, families and members from both India and Sri Lanka are joining hands in this meaningful initiative, demonstrating once again that Rotary International knows no borders when there is a generation to empower.
Our sincere appreciation to District Governor Kumar Sundararaj RID 3220, and District Governor T. S. Ravi Kumar, RID 3231, for their leadership in bringing this spirit of cross-border collaboration and service to life. Our gratitude to the Rotary Club of Mamallapuram, Rotary Club of Colombo Mid City and Rotary Club of Nuwara Eliya for turning partnership into lasting impact.
Together, we are not simply renovating classrooms. We #CreateLastingImpact
